Our communities have been taken over by corporate interest and in turn, we have developed Hemphill No Se Vende (Hemphill Not for Sale.) We are a coalition of community members working to defend the South Side from gentrification and displacement to preserve our culture and neighborhood. Residents in Fort Worth’s District 11 have been taken advantage of by those special interests through rezoning changes approved by past and current city councils. Residents of Hemphill have felt that they were left out of development processes in the past, and some are concerned that residents are being bypassed again. To have this transpire is truly disheartening for the community. "Forward Together” spearheads what truly matters to our community such as schools education (unequal opportunities), proper police training (for our safety), street development (under development), businesses for jobs (lack of job opportunities), environmental cleaning (industrial zones), underfunded parks, and recreation in neighborhoods (lack of amenities).
