Hemphill No Se Vende (Not For Sale)

Hemphill No Se Vende is a coalition of community members working to defend the South Side from gentrification and displacement and to preserve our culture and neighborhood off of Hemphill St in Fort Worth Texas. We have been fighting against the City's rezoning tactics, which give an advantage to investors and developers without proper due process and proper notifications to local residents. 

STOPPING Unpresidented 313-Acre Takeover

Hemphill No Se Vende Founders pushed back and stopped the unprecedented 313-acre takeover. With the help of local residents and business owners, the founders formed the grassroots group Hemphill No Se Vende (Hemphill Is Not for Sale) which organizes community meetings to discuss the zoning changes and promotes civic engagement in the city’s rezoning process. Volunteers with Hemphill No Se Vende regularly canvass homes and businesses around Hemphill Street to raise awareness of the current zoning proposals.

District 11 Residents are Investors and Developers in their homesteads and businesses. We will not stand utterly by while these Private Investors and Outside Developers take over our zoning rights with loophole tactics that they have been abusing for years.

This is the Power we have as a Community when we Work Together for a Common Cause! 

Another active result of what Hemphill No Se Vende (Not For Sale) has accomplished with local residents and businesses.

A townhome project slated for Fort Worth’s Hemphill corridor will not go forward after the developer dropped its request for a needed zoning change. The investor/developer faced opposition from Hemphill residents worried it would lead to gentrification. Fort Worth-based Townsite Co dropped its request because of “timing delays,” according to an email to the city’s development services department from Townsite Co. The email was forwarded to the Star-Telegram from city council member Elizabeth Beck, whose district includes the proposed site.
